Welcome to the Monasterio de Monte Irago, a Benedictine community on the Camino de Santiago, rooted in the St. Ottilien Congregation. We are glad you are here and hope you feel at home.
A monastery on the Camino de Santiago. We share our Benedictine life of prayer and hospitality with all those who travel this path with the desire to seek God.
History
The Monastery of San Salvador was founded as a dependent house of the Archabbey of St. Ottilia on February 2, 2001. It is located near the Monte Irago pass and the Cruz de Ferro. The contemporary monastery continues the historical synthesis that occurred on the Camino between monastic contemplation and hospitality, as attested by the memory of the ancient monastery of the same name (11th century), of which no remains exist.

We cannot accept reservations, as the length of a pilgrim’s stay cannot be predetermined. When you arrive in Rabanal del Camino, please come to the monastery shop and ask to speak with the hospitalero or the superior to see if you can stay with us.
Non-pilgrim guests: The internal guesthouse also has rooms available for those who wish to spend a few days with us. A reservation is required: please contact the monastery by email or telephone.
