The celebration of the Jubilee is a journey, a gradual process over time. It is not an event or a happening.
It is a time of opening ourselves to the "divinizing light of God" (Prologue, Rule of St Benedict). As with all jubilees it is a time of taking stock, of penitence, of celebrating, and above all of springing into new life and hope. The Jubilee year of 2029 will be more launchpad than destination. This is why we continue our celebration, overflowing into 2030, and joining the worldwide Jubilee of the 2000th anniversary since Christ launched his mission.
The spiritual preparation follows the stages of St Benedict's life. Each year has a theme and a place of hope which is associated with it. We are using this time to contemplate the very roots of our Christian and monastic vocation.
