Welcome to Abbaye Notre-Dame de Tournay, a living Benedictine community nestled beside the Arros river in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Our monks warmly invite you to share in our prayer, peace, and hospitality.
History
The monastery, initially established in Madiran, in the same diocese of Tarbes-et-Lourdes, was founded in 1934 by the monks of the Abbey of En-Calcat. It was erected as a canonical monastery in 1935, raised to the rank of conventual priory in 1939, and elevated to the rank of abbey by decree of the General Chapter in 1946. It was transferred to Tournay in 1952.
