About
The Conventual Priory of São Bento, located in Garanhuns, Pernambuco, Brazil, is a place of deep spirituality and hospitality, where the Benedictine tradition remains alive through prayer, work, and community life. Under the guidance of the Conventual Prior, Dom Anselmo Nogueira, OSB, the community is composed of 16 members who dedicate themselves daily to the search for God, following the maxim of Saint Benedict: “Ora et labora” (Pray and work).
More than just a place for spiritual retreat, the monastery also welcomes those seeking moments of silence, reflection, and inner renewal, offering accommodation for retreats and opportunities to experience monastic life.
Another highlight of the monastery is its shop, where visitors can find handcrafted products made by the monks themselves, such as liqueurs, beers, breads, and cookies, as well as icons, books on monastic spirituality, and various religious articles. These products reflect not only the care and dedication of the monks but also the Benedictine tradition of uniting faith, culture, and work in everything they do.
The Conventual Priory of São Bento in Garanhuns thus presents itself as a true refuge of peace, prayer, and culture, open to all who wish to find a deeper meaning in life.
