Welcome to the Ermitage de Longeborgne, a cherished place of pilgrimage nestled in the dramatic gorges of the Borgne Valley in Valais, Switzerland, where faith, nature, and centuries of devotion come beautifully together.
Monastery founded in November 1925 in the commune of Amay-sur-Meuse (Diocese of Liège) in response to the appeal made by Pope Pius XI to the Benedictines, inviting them to pray for the unity of Christians and to undertake works to achieve it (Apostolic Letter Equidem verba of March 21, 1924). Canonically established as a priory on July 28, 1928, the monastery was transferred to Chevetogne (Diocese of Namur) in June 1939, and elevated to the rank of abbey on December 11, 1990.
