Welcome to the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Sampor, Slovakia — the first Benedictine monastery to be re-established after the Communist era, where a warm, prayerful community awaits you.
The Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Lord is striving to renew the Benedictine way of life in Slovakia after two centuries of absence in the country. Situated in the heart of Slovakia and surrounded by pristine nature, it has become a sought-after place of silence and prayer, as well as culture and reflection.
History
The monastery began as an affiliated house of Tyniec Abbey (Poland) in 2006. The newly built church was consecrated on 24 May 2010, and a simple priory was established on the same occasion. The monastery gained independence as a conventual priory of the Congregation of the Annunciation in 2012.
