Community of Benedictine monks in Mexico, located in the northern part of the metropolitan area of Mexico City. Belonging to the American-Cassinese Congregation.

History

The monastery was founded in 1946 by St. John's Abbey (Minnesota). It was elevated to a conventual priory on April 6, 1970, and to an abbey on December 3, 1971, following the merger of two communities that existed as priories in Mexico: monks from St. John's Abbey (Minnesota, United States) and monks from the Abbey of Santo Domingo de Silos (Burgos, Spain), as well as Mexican monks who were the result of the efforts of both communities.

In Benedictine life, hospitality is an essential aspect of our vocation. Following the tradition of the Rule of Saint Benedict, in which we are invited to receive every guest as Christ himself (RB 53,1), our community opens the doors of its guesthouse to all those who seek a space for silence, encounter, and inner renewal. The guesthouse of the Abbey of Tepeyac is a place designed to foster prayer, personal reflection, and deep rest for the heart. In a simple, fraternal, and serene environment, we offer the opportunity to pause along the way to rediscover God and oneself. We have four double rooms and two family rooms with capacity for five people, suitable for those who wish to spend a few days in spiritual retreat, whether individually, as a family, or in small groups.
